Which skin treatment is right for me?

The right skin treatment depends on what bothers you most. Microneedling and PRP can help with texture, scarring and fine lines. Skin boosters such as Profhilo and Redensity 1 target dryness and dullness. Facials and LED suit regular upkeep. Your consultation matches the treatment to your skin, budget and the downtime you can allow.

A rough guide before you book:

• Texture, open pores or acne scarring: medical microneedling, or PRP skin if you want to use your own plasma.
• Dull, dehydrated skin: mesotherapy or a skin booster.
• Crepey skin on the neck or thinning skin on the backs of the hands: hand or neck rejuvenation, or Profhilo on the neck.
• Thinning hair: PRP scalp, after a consultation to talk about the likely cause.
• Regular care between treatments: a facial or LED session with Dilan.

What is medical microneedling?

Medical microneedling uses a device with fine needles to make tiny, controlled channels in the skin. The skin responds by repairing itself, which can improve texture, fine lines and the look of scarring over a course. One face session costs £110, face and neck £140, and a course of 3 for the face £285.

After treatment your face usually looks pink or red, a bit like mild sunburn, for a day or two. Some people see small changes after one session. Most of the change comes gradually as the skin renews, which is why we offer a course of three.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy delivers a blend of hydrating and nourishing ingredients into the top layers of the skin through many tiny injections or fine needling. It aims to improve hydration, glow and the look of tired skin. A face treatment costs £120, and face and neck together cost £150.

Mesotherapy suits clients who want fresher-looking skin without adding volume. The treatment is quick, and small bumps or redness at the treated points usually settle within a day or so. Your consultation covers what the blend contains and whether a single session or a series would suit your skin.

What is PRP for the skin and scalp?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. We take a small blood sample from your arm, spin it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, then apply it to your skin or scalp. PRP skin costs £175 for the face, £200 for face and neck, or £450 for a course of three.

PRP skin

For the face, the plasma is usually combined with microneedling or injected in small amounts. Clients choose it for texture, fine lines and dull skin. Expect redness for a day or two, similar to microneedling, and possibly small bruises where the blood was taken.

PRP scalp

PRP scalp is used for thinning hair. A single session costs £200, and a course of three costs £525. Hair loss has many causes and PRP won't suit all of them, so your consultation starts with your history. Any change in hair happens slowly, over months, and results vary.

What are skin boosters like Profhilo and Redensity 1?

Skin boosters are hyaluronic acid gels injected in small amounts to hydrate the skin from within. They don't add shape or volume in the way dermal filler does. Profhilo costs £225 for the face, or £400 for a course of two. Teoxane Redensity 1 costs £200, or £525 for a course of three.

Silan carries out skin booster treatments. The two products work in different ways:

• Profhilo is injected at a small number of points and spreads under the skin. It is often given as a course of two, and it can also treat the neck for £225, or face and neck together for £400.
• Teoxane Redensity 1 is a light gel placed with many small injections across the face. It suits dull, dehydrated skin and fine lines, and is offered as a course of three.

You may see small raised bumps at the injection points for a few hours, and bruising is possible. Silan explains the risks at your consultation, in the same way as for filler on our aesthetics page.

Can you treat the hands and neck?

Yes. We offer hand rejuvenation injections for £150 and neck rejuvenation injections for £175. Both use injectable treatments to improve hydration and the look of thin or crepey skin in areas that often show age before the face does. Silan carries out these treatments after a consultation.

The backs of the hands lose volume over time, which makes veins and tendons more visible. The neck often shows lines and loose texture. Your consultation covers which product suits each area and how many sessions you might need.

Do you offer facials and LED light therapy?

Yes. Dilan Bozdag, our partner and skin specialist, carries out facials and LED light therapy. Dilan is a qualified skin practitioner with more than three years' experience. Prices for facials and LED are coming soon. Until then, call us on 07399 752632 to ask about availability and book.

Facials suit regular skin care and can sit between courses of microneedling or skin boosters. LED light therapy uses light at set wavelengths on the skin and involves no needles. Dilan will talk through your skin and your routine at your first appointment and suggest what to book next.

Why are some treatments sold as a course of three?

Skin changes build up over several sessions, so microneedling, PRP and Redensity 1 are sold as courses of three at a lower price. A microneedling course of three costs £285, saving £45. PRP skin and PRP scalp courses save £75 each. A Profhilo course of two saves £50.

Sessions are usually spaced a few weeks apart so your skin can recover and respond between them. Your practitioner will suggest a gap that suits the treatment and your skin. How much downtime should I expect?

Downtime varies with the treatment and your skin. After microneedling or PRP skin, redness usually lasts one to two days. Injectable skin boosters can leave small bumps for a few hours and possible bruising for several days. Facials and LED usually need little recovery. Your consultation covers what to expect.

If you have a wedding, holiday or photos coming up, book skin treatments at least two weeks before so any redness or bruising has time to settle. Avoid strong sun, sunbeds and active skincare such as retinoids and acids for a few days after needling treatments.
