What are HD Brows?

HD Brows is a trademarked brow treatment created by the HD Brows brand and carried out by trained HD Brows artists. It combines tinting, waxing, threading and trimming in one appointment, all built around a brow shape mapped to your face. At Maison Aesthetics, Silan does every HD Brows treatment for £30.

A standard brow appointment usually does one job. Threading or waxing removes hair, and a tint adds colour. HD Brows brings those techniques together and starts from a question: what shape suits this face? Silan answers that first, then uses whichever methods the shape needs.

The result looks groomed and fuller while still looking like your own brows.

Who are HD Brows for?

HD Brows suit most people who want fuller, more defined brows without microblading or brow tattooing. They work well for fair or sparse brows, uneven brows, and brows you're growing out after years of over-plucking. If you've never had your brows shaped professionally, HD Brows are a good place to start.

If you're growing your brows out, Silan shapes what's there now and leaves the hairs you need. With uneven brows the aim is balance, since most faces aren't symmetrical.

HD Brows won't be right on the day if the skin around your brows is broken, sunburnt or irritated. Tell Silan about any skin conditions, allergies or medication at the consultation, because some affect whether tint and wax are suitable.

HD Brows or brow lamination: which should I choose?

Choose HD Brows if you want your brows shaped and tinted with the hairs lying in their natural direction. Choose brow lamination if your hairs grow down or across and you'd like them to sit brushed up. HD Brows cost £30. Lamination costs £40, or £45 with a tint and shape.

The two treatments do different jobs. HD Brows is about shape and colour. Silan decides where the brow should sit, removes the hair outside it, and uses tint to make it look fuller. Lamination changes the direction the hairs lie. A lamination solution softens the hairs so Silan can brush them upward and set them there, which gives a full, brushed-up look.

If you want both, lamination with tint and shape covers the brushed-up look plus colour and tidying. Silan can advise at your patch test.

How much do HD Brows cost in Harlow?

HD Brows cost £30 at Maison Aesthetics, and the price covers the consultation, mapping, tint, wax, thread and trim. The patch test comes before your first appointment. Brow lamination costs £40, or £45 with tint and shape, and a brow thread or wax with tint costs £18.

Do I need a patch test for HD Brows?

Yes, and it's free. HD Brows includes a tint, and our practice is to patch test every client at least 48 hours before their first tint. Silan places a small amount of tint on your skin, and you watch for any reaction over the next two days before the treatment goes ahead.

Book the patch test on Fresha, or ask for one when you call. If you notice redness, itching or swelling where the tint was placed, don't book the treatment. Call us instead, and Silan will talk you through it.

If your health, skin or medication has changed since your last tint, or it's been a long time since your last visit, ask whether you need a new patch test.

What happens at an HD Brows appointment?

The appointment starts with a consultation, then Silan maps your brow shape, tints the hairs, and removes hair with wax and thread. The last steps are trimming any long hairs so they sit in line, then finishing and brushing the brows into place. You see the shape before anything is removed, and you can ask for changes.

Consultation

Silan asks how you like to wear your brows and checks your patch test result and medical history.

Mapping

Silan measures your face to plan where each brow should start, arch and end, then marks the shape out so you can see it and agree it before work begins.

Tint

Silan chooses or mixes a tint shade to suit your hair and skin tone. The tint colours the brow hairs and leaves a soft stain on the skin underneath, which helps the brow look fuller.

Wax and thread

Wax removes hair outside the shape in clean strips. Silan uses thread for the finer detail and any hairs close to the edge.

Trim and finish

Long hairs that fall out of line are trimmed. Silan then brushes the brows into place and talks you through how to keep the shape between appointments.

How long does an HD Brows appointment take?

Allow around 45 minutes to an hour for HD Brows. Your first appointment can run a little longer, because Silan spends more time on the consultation and on mapping a shape for you. Later appointments usually move faster, since the shape is already planned and only needs maintaining.

The patch test is a separate, short visit at least 48 hours before. If you're coming from Epping or Bishop's Stortford, you can fit it around a trip into Harlow town centre.

How should I look after my brows afterwards?

For the first 24 to 48 hours, keep your brows dry and avoid make-up, heat, sunbeds and exfoliating products on the area. This lets the skin settle after waxing and helps the tint last. Silan goes through aftercare with you before you leave, so ask about anything you're unsure of.

After that:

• Skip saunas, steam rooms and swimming for a day or two.
• Keep retinol, acids and scrubs away from the brows, since they fade tint faster.
• Don't pluck between appointments. Early strays often turn out to be part of the shape.

A little redness straight after waxing is common and usually settles within a few hours. If it doesn't, or the skin feels sore, call the clinic.

How long do HD Brows last?

HD Brows usually last around four to six weeks. The tint on the skin fades first, often within a week or two, while the tint on the hairs lasts longer. The shape stays tidy until regrowth shows. Rebooking every four to six weeks keeps the shape.

How long yours last depends on how fast your hair grows, your skin type and your skincare routine. Oily skin, exfoliating acids, retinol near the brows and frequent swimming can all fade tint sooner. If you're growing your brows out, Silan may suggest a longer gap so the hairs have time to fill in.
